After separating a few years ago I was recommended to Marita Bajinskis of Blackwood Family Lawyers. I remember my first meeting with her… I came in feeling totally lost, broken and vulnerable and not knowing where my life was headed or how I was going to get through this next phase.

Marita made me feel safe, secure and not alone which was something I had not felt since the separation. She assured me that she would guide me through everything and nothing would be done without me fully understanding what was happening and this was a great comfort. I needed someone to hold my hand at this stage and she did. Marita also gave me my strength back and the courage to fight for what I was entitled to and she also helped me to see reason when I became emotional.

Marita and her PA Sarah never made me feel like just a client, I always felt important and heard by them and being a family law matter I guess this is the extra touch needed to practice in this field. I was never palmed off to a junior lawyer, Marita always met with me and always returned my calls, even when she was super busy with all her other clients. I never felt like I was bothering her and that was good. With a matter like mine, like any family matter its nice to know you have someone behind you who will go in to bat for you and who is willing to stand up for you when you feel you cant. Marita understood that I wanted the best outcome for my children and she really helped me get this and even though it took a long time, she never stopped fighting for me, never stopped supporting me and never stopped encouraging me and never stopped telling me that I was worth it and for that I will always be indebted to Marita and Sarah.

I engaged with Blackwood Family Lawyers in 2018.

Daniel Piekarski & Kate Wild have handled a complex case which has involved a property settlement, custody matters and relocation.

I have found Daniel to be a true professional and thorough with his attention to detail. Daniel has always seemed a few steps ahead, which has meant that i can relax somewhat and trust his direction and guidance. Daniel set the tone for the way my case would run right from the get go and I feel that the outcome of my case has been heavily dependent on his professional and cautious approach.

Kate Wild is a fantastic lawyer and a genuine person. I have completely trusted her guidance and have always felt she has had not only my best interests at heart but most importantly, my daughters. I feel very proud of the way our case has been handled and would recommend Kate highly. Kate is a professional and also very approachable at the same time. I have felt that i can have open and honest conversations with Kate and she will always give me a straight answer. I was referred to Marita Bajinski, a Principal of Blackwood Family Lawyers by a friend when the father of my child initiated legal proceedings against me after we settled informally more than two years previously without consent orders. Marita in her wisdom suggested that a senior associate of hers, Danielle Sturgeon, take over my case. How lucky was I to have found Danielle! Not only did Danielle quickly pick up the essence of my case but she wrote a brilliant responding letter to my ex’s lawyer. From that moment on, I knew I had a kindred spirit – a lawyer who had bite with nous.

Danielle is an exceptional lawyer with an extraordinary talent for writing legal letters that gets to the heart of the matter. Danielle’s expertise, keen insight and wit managed to get me through my ordeal in better shape than I expected.

I recently completed Family Court proceedings which included a Final Hearing. I had an excellent experience with Marita Bajinskis from Blackwood Family Lawyers, despite the unfortunate and difficult reasons for needing her assistance. I found her to be extremely helpful in guiding me from being the “underdog” to achieving the outcome I was after. She was professional at all times, friendly and approachable and firm but still showing sympathy and not making me feel like I was asking dumb questions. I would also like to thanks Danielle Sturgeon for her help and support during the process as well. I would have no hesitation in recommending Marita to anyone needing help with their Family Law matters.
